Open Day

On Open Days, Fitzrovia Chapel opens its doors as a place of quiet refuge in the heart of central London. Free to visit and open to all, the Chapel offers a rare opportunity to step away from the surrounding streets and into a space shaped by calm, beauty, and reflection.

DATE

14 April 2026

TIME

11:00am – 5:00pm

The chapel was originally created as a place of prayer, reflection, and quiet contemplation for the staff and patients of the former Middlesex Hospital. That sense of care and stillness remains at the heart of Fitzrovia Chapel today.

We continue this tradition by opening the chapel to the public most weeks. From Monday to Wednesday, between 11am and 5pm, and on one Sunday each month, visitors are welcome to step inside. During exhibitions, the chapel is often open every day.
Inside, the atmosphere invites you to slow down. You may choose to sit in silence, take in the light filtering through the stained glass, gently explore the richly detailed interior, or learn more about the chapel’s history. There is no need to book. You are warmly invited to come in, pause, and spend time in the Chapel in your own way.

Amid the constant movement of central London, the chapel offers a rare pause, a place to breathe, reflect, and experience a sense of calm within this hidden sanctuary at the heart of Fitzrovia.

OPEN DAYS

MEDITATION & MINDFULNESS

In these busy times, there is great value in giving ourselves permission to be still and look around us, to reflect and to engage only in the wealth of colour, soft light and sense of history that the chapel brings.  Increasingly, research tells us that practices such as mindfulness and meditation help ease anxiety, depression and social isolation. We offer the chapel to you as just such a space. Somewhere you can step out of the concerns of city life and feel you are in another world. A place to stop and wonder, but most definitely to stop.

There is no charge for our open days and you do not need to book. Please come as often as you would like. We value our community and love greeting familiar faces as well as new visitors. The chapel is wheelchair accessible.
