 We are recruiting for new casual team members (casual events hosts and duty managers) to support the chapel across our hires business.

The Fitzrovia Chapel is a unique central London venue, a classical and yet unconventional architectural wonder with an innovative and quality cultural life. We provide a secular space within a listed building for civil wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions, live performances, art exhibitions and filming.

We are looking for enthusiastic, customer-service-driven people to join our front of house team. You should be motivated to deliver exceptional service. This integral position needs a reliable, adaptable individual who is naturally personable and will positively promote the reputation of the venue and its events. You will have a real passion for heritage buildings and an understanding of the respect they need. Role: Casual Events Host
· Reporting to: Duty Manager
· Location: Fitzrovia Chapel, 2 Pearson Square, London W1T 3BF
. Contract term: Casual/zero-hours contract
. Hourly pay: £10.20 (plus £1.43 holiday pay)


Key Responsibilities
· To set up the venue before an event under the instruction of the Duty Manager;
· To help with bar service, maintain kitchen and bathroom supplies, set up and man entrances and guest lists;
· To provide positive and attentive help to all our customers so that we offer an exceptional standard of customer service and create a truly welcoming environment;
· To adhere to all health and safety procedures in order to minimise the risk of injury and accidents, including maintaining the cleanliness of all front of house and staff areas;
· To be vigilant at all times in order to protect the welfare and security of yourself, colleagues and all our customers;
· To keep a high and consistent standard of appearance, ensuring that the venue’s image is always maintained;
· To complete any other delegated tasks that may help us achieve our business objectives.

Person Specification
· A genuine interest in providing an exceptional level of customer service;
· A passion and talent for service to ensure that the visitor’s experience is enhanced by your commitment and proactive approach;
· Individual skills and characteristics which nurture effective teamwork to deliver exceptional service: cooperation, communication, motivation, flexibility, positivity and enthusiasm;
· An ability to remain calm, positive and professional under pressure in a public-facing role;
· Excellent personal presentation;
· Fluency in English language and great communication skills, with an ability to confidently engage with both individuals and groups;
· Fit to carry out jobs that includes lifting.

Preferable skills and qualifications:
· Experience in hospitality or front of house
· First aid trained;

Role: Duty Manager
· Reporting to: Events Manager
· Location: Fitzrovia Chapel, 2 Pearson Square, London W1T 3BF
· Contract term: Casual/zero-hours contract
· Hourly pay: £13.38 per hour (plus  £1.62 holiday pay)

Key Responsibilities

To open or close the building in accordance with the set procedure, as required;
To carry out a full fire safety check of the entire building at the start of each shift and immediately action any areas of concern;
Working with the Events Manager, to ensure the building complies with all health and safety and licensing polices;
To manage incidents and emergencies whilst on duty;
To ensure the public areas, kitchen and toilets are presentable and welcoming at all times;
To ensure front of house staff are delivering outstanding customer service;
To confidently supervise all front of house staff, including managing breaks and motivating staff;
To deputise for the Events Manager in her absence, ensuring the venue is safe and secure at all times. This includes being a key holder and being responsible for the security of the building when opening and locking up;
To confidently disseminate the current fire evacuation procedure to staff and crew;
To take responsibility for the calm and efficient evacuation of the entire venue in the event of an emergency if required;
To operate the sesame lift when required;
To instruct front of house staff in setting up and serving drinks as required;
To ensure that front of house staff serve customers in a helpful and efficient manner;
To always act in the best interest of the Fitzrovia Chapel;
To be welcoming and provide excellent customer care to all visitors to the Fitzrovia Chapel;
To adhere to the Fitzrovia Chapel policies, including Equalities (including diversity, access, equal opportunities); Environmental and Health and Safety;
Any other duties as reasonably required.

Person Specification
Essential
Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task;
A proven efficient self-starter who is able to take responsibility and exercise initiative, when appropriate, whilst also enjoying being a team member;
Experience of motivating team members on shift;
A calm, polite and efficient manner;
Strong communications skills;
Commitment to high levels of customer service, with experience of dealing with customers both in person and on the telephone;
Knowledge of licensing laws.

Desirable
Experience of working in an arts venue;
Experience of working in a wedding venue;
Experience of duty managing;
Hold a valid first aid qualification.
