Pride at the Chapel

8 July 2020 13:00 - 13:30

Across London and the UK, Pride celebrations mark the struggles lived in pursuit of the right to live and love as yourself, and celebrate the history of the LGBT+ community. The Fitzrovia Chapel believes that love is love, and is glad to be a place where all couples are welcome to express that love through marriage.

Fitzrovia and its neighbouring areas have strong connections with many famous moments of LGBT+ history, and some less well known. This Pride season as part of July’s Wireless Contemplation event, we will explore works connected to some of these parts of history.

Our Wireless Contemplation events are a chance to experience the chapel space whilst listening to the literary work of, and about, Fitzrovia’s famous residents. With a short introduction and specially chosen audio recording for each gathering, these free events provide an opportunity to take a lunchtime break from the outside world, and explore the creative, social and literary history of the chapel’s neighbourhood. This year rather than focusing on a single author per event, we have designed the programme around a series of themes throughout the year, and we look forward to welcoming both regular and new visitors.
